The 2009 Alabama Sports Festival State Games were a huge success and it would have never been possible without the help of hundreds of volunteers. To all the tournament directors, commissioners, coaches, parents, officials and hundreds of volunteers, we say thank you for a job well done! And to all the athletes who competed, congratulations on your great accomplishments and keep on 'Going For Gold!'

Race Director

Course Description

Youth (7-10) course: 100yd swim, 5K bike, and 1K run

Youth (11-15) course: 200yd swim, 10K bike, and 2K run

Adult course: 400yd swim, 25K bike, and 5K run

Age Divisions

Youth; 7-15

Adult; 16 & Over

Note: Youth under 16 may choose to compete in Either Youth or Adult Race

Age determination date is December 31, 2010.

Proof of age is required. Birth certificate, AHSAA eligibility list, Military I.D. and/or driver’s license are acceptable proof-of-age documents. Do not mail or hand-deliver any proof-of-age documents to the Alabama Sports Festival. The coach/participants should have proof-of-age documents on hand at the event site. In case of eligibility disputes, lack of proper documentation will result in disqualification of individual participants and/or team.

Event Rules and Format

The Adult and Youth Competition will be a sanctioned USA Triathlon event. All participants must be a member of USA Triathlon.

Any USA Triathlon non-member must purchase a membership to participate. Non-members may sign up for a membership at check-in on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the following rates:

  • 17 & Under $5.00 for annual membership
  • 18 & Over $10.00 for one day membership.

The race order is swim/bike/run. Assistance is not allowed along course or in the transition area with the exception of the provided water stops.

There will be staff on the bike course, but roads will NOT be closed to traffic–SO USE CAUTION. Drafting or pack riding is not allowed. Transition area racks for bicycles will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Relays may consist of two or three participants. The race number must be worn and passed to the next member in the transition area.

Awards

Individual

Alabama Sports Festival State Games Medal awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for the top 3 overall male and top 3 overall female. Age group awards will go to the top 3 males and top 3 females in the following age groups: Youth; 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-15 Adult; 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 & Over

Relay

Each individual on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place relays will receive an Alabama Sports Festival State Games Medal.
